Nvidia RTX 4000 launch

The Nvidia RTX 4000 series is on the way, and things could go a little crazy from here. Although it’s hard to believe with all the stuff going up in the world right now, the RTX 3000 series has been around for nearly two years now. And we’re getting closer to the next generation of GPUs by Nvidia.

Nvidia seems determined to hold its crown as the king of graphics cards. If the upgrade from the 2000 series to the 3000 series is something to go by, we can rest assured that this next-gen is going to be crazy.

Sadly, as of the moment, we’re writing this article, there isn’t a lot of confirmed information on the RTX 4000 series. But we have some rumors, leaks, and official info available, and we can get some conclusions out of them. So, let’s get started!

Nvidia RTX 4000 launch: The release date

We know that as with the official architecture roadmap released by Nvidia the Ampere Next has a release date set for 2022. And we will be the Ampere Next Next in 2024. Considering that the RTX 4000 will use the Ampere Next that should confirm the release date for this year.

Nvidia also has a tradition of releasing a series of GPUs every two years, and the time is running out. Popular leaker known as kopite7kimi has also mentioned that they’ll be releasing the RTX 4000 lineup in Q3 2022. And given the previous series releases, we could expect to see them somewhere around September this year.

Price and availability

Every gamer and PC enthusiast knows that availability has been a big issue for the last couple of years. Many have not been able to even get their hands on the 3000 series still, so it’s normal to have doubts about this with the RTX 4000 series.

Nvidia has mentioned in the past that they are expecting the availability situation in the second half of this year. And even though the whip shortage is still present, things are getting better. But as for the price, well…

In the past two series of Nvidia RTX cards, we have seen the same base price for the starter cards. Both the RTX 2070 and the RTX 3070 launched at the same $499 MSRP. But as things stand right now, we could expect to see a little hike in the prices For the RTX 4000 series, going up for about 10%.

Moving all the required elements to fabricate these cards has gotten much harder, and the new technologies are getting more expensive too. So, with this in mind, it could be around $549 for the base model of the 4070.

A lot of power requires a lot of power

One of the most disturbing rumors going around the RTX 4000 series has to do with the top-of-the-line RTX 4090. Whereas it will most likely be the top graphics card at its time, what we’ve seen so far indicates it could draw a lot of power.

Accommodating such a powerful card will be troublesome for those with older hardware, as it’s usually the case. And even though we know it will most likely ship with the new PCIe Gen 5 power connector we’ve heard about the power required. Once again the leaker kopite7kimi mentioned it could dream about 600W TGP.
